Hi! I'm Megan Lambert and am stoked to announce my candidacy to be your next Nags Head Commissioner!

I've called Nags Head home for the past 15 years. I own and operate an ice cream shop with two locations in Nags Head on Beach Road. When I'm not slinging ice cream, you can find me hanging with my family. My husband ofalmost 20 years, Jason, and I enjoy running our business, while balancing raising our family in Nags Head. We have a four year old daughter and a son who is a rising middle schooler. Our family has a love of surfing andsnowboarding. I actually learned how to surf on this beach over 20 years ago and enjoy surfing everyday if I'm fortunate enough. I recently completed my first Adventure Race in May with a small group of amazingly strong Nags Head ladies! We conquered nearly SO hours of trekking, biking, and canoeing over 140 miles in the Shenandoah Mountains and I cannot wait to race again.

Soo .. why am I running for Commissioner?! I have the passion and experience to make a positive impact on our little community.

I LOVE this gem we live in! Our neighboring beach towns are incredible, but the charm and small-town vibe of Nags Head is what sets us apart. I can't imagine living anywhere else. I've been a steward for our Town for several years. It started when my business and home flooded during Hurricane Matthew. I decided then (listening to some sound advice) that I could be the angry person in the room, or I could get involved and advocate for our fellow residents and business owners, contribute to the community, and partner with our fantastic Town staff to develop real solutions. I started on the Stormwater Committee in 2017 and then was appointed to the Planning Board in 2018 by our Board of Commissioners. In 2019, I served on the Hazard Mitigation Planning Committee. I am still currently serving on the Planning Board and also serve on the Septic Health Committee. What we have accomplished on the Planning Board and Committees has been remarkable and has afforded me the opportunity to learn about what is important to our residents. It has provided me insight to the work that is required by our Town staff and Board of Commissioners to maintain the Nags Head that we all love. !
